Panelling

Bespoke timber panelling that transforms a room — from classic shaker and period Georgian profiles to contemporary fluted, slatted and full-height designs.

Bespoke wall panelling and wainscoting

Hand-made wall panelling that adds depth, warmth and a sense of permanence to a room — from fine fluted and slatted panelling to classic shaker and Georgian wainscoting. Designed and fitted for homes across London and the Home Counties.

We template each wall and build panelling to suit your ceiling heights, skirtings and architraves, finished in paint or timber. Panelling can wrap a hallway, frame a bed or define a dining area.

Questions about
wall panelling

Not covered here? Call us on 01494 261 564 — we'll answer straight away.

What's the right dado rail height for a room?
The traditional rule is that the dado rail should sit at roughly one third of the ceiling height from the floor — so in a room with a 2.7m ceiling, approximately 900mm. For rooms with very high ceilings (3m+), we often pitch the dado slightly higher. The proportions of the room and the furniture within it also influence the decision. We'll advise at the design stage.
Can panelling be installed in a bathroom or kitchen?
Yes, with the right materials. We use moisture-resistant MDF in bathroom environments and specify appropriate primers and paints. In kitchens, shaker panelling or tongue-and-groove is a popular choice. For wet rooms and shower areas we use different materials and methods entirely — we'll advise on the right approach.
Do you supply and fit the paint finish as part of the panelling installation?
We can supply panels primed and ready for your decorator, or we can arrange a full spray-paint finish from our workshop before installation. The spray finish gives a flawless, factory-quality result. We'll agree the approach at the quoting stage.
How is panelling fixed — will it damage the walls?
We fix panelling using a combination of adhesive and discreet mechanical fixings. The fixings are designed to be removable without significant damage if the panelling is ever taken down. We always prepare the wall properly before installation to ensure a flat, stable substrate.
Can you incorporate built-in features like bookshelves or display niches within the panelling?
Yes — integrating built-in features within a panelling scheme is one of the things that makes it genuinely bespoke. Recessed niches, book alcoves, concealed doors and display lighting can all be designed into the panelling as part of the original scheme.

Panelling is the quietest way to change how a whole room feels.
