Bespoke Sash
Windows

Handcrafted timber sash windows for London period properties. Traditional box-sash construction with modern double glazing and draught-proofing — the best of both worlds.

Bespoke Sash Windows

Bespoke timber sash windows in London

Made-to-measure timber sash windows, hand-built to match period properties and improve performance — box sash and spring-balance windows, with draught-proofing and slim double glazing. Manufactured and installed across London and the Home Counties.

We replicate Georgian and Victorian details — glazing bars, horns and mouldings — while adding modern weatherproofing and security. Whether replacing rotten windows or upgrading single glazing, every window is made to order.

Questions about
sash
windows

Not covered here? Call us on 01494 261 564 — we'll answer straight away.

Can you double-glaze a timber sash window?
Yes. We can incorporate slim double-glazing units (6.4mm or 8mm) within a traditional sash window profile, significantly improving thermal performance without altering the external appearance. This is particularly important for listed buildings and conservation areas where appearance must be maintained.
Are your sash windows suitable for listed buildings?
Yes. We have extensive experience working on listed properties and in conservation areas across London. We can match original window profiles exactly, use appropriate glazing bars and glass, and our work is designed to satisfy local authority planning and listed building consent requirements.
Do you draught-proof existing sash windows?
We specialise in draught-proofing and overhauling existing box sash windows — a more cost-effective option than full replacement when the frames are structurally sound. We replace the cords, fit draught-proofing brushes, and re-balance the weights for smooth, silent operation.
What is the difference between a box sash and a spiral balance sash?
A traditional box sash window uses hidden counterweights in the box frame to balance the sashes. A spiral balance system replaces the weights with coiled springs in the stile — slimmer and lighter, often used where the original box-frame depth is not available. We make both.
How long do bespoke sash windows take?
Bespoke replacement sash windows typically take 8–12 weeks from survey to installation. The survey, drawing approval, manufacture and installation are all carried out by our own team.

A sash window should honour the period of the house while quietly fixing its draughts.
